The Old Days Are Over

Welcome to the new and improved Sandwich/Burrito Burrito/Sandwich where Austin and I will share photos of sensual sandwiches and breathtaking burritos we bring to work, probably talk about things we like including and/or not limited to sandwiches, burritos, coffee, effect pedals, music and any other interests we may have but i'm pretty sure i don't have any of those.

Today features a basic yet delicious hungarian infused sandwich, on my most very favourite guitar, a limited edition 2003 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Rootbeer Sunburst finish, in which I affectionately call Susanne. The sandwich is heavily marinanted pork called Fleckon (sp?) (we're talking a day of marination) grilled on the barbie by my father to perfection. It's laying on freshmade bread from philadelphia that i brought home topped with provolone and a little sourcream.

Utopia Park - Utopia Shark

Dom Rabalais is one of the most influential people i've met in a long time. Not only did i see him perform in 3 different bands in the same night, he also set up the show and pretty much runs the venue, and is the epicenter of the FAIRFIELD IOWA music scene. Don't take Iowa off your map just because you know slipknots from there, They have one of the coolest and most fun music scenes i've gotten to experience in a long time. Utopia Park is brothers Dom & Phil, who literally power the entire city of Fairfield with their sweat. Whether Dom's jumping off of speakers or doing Frontwards rolls with hisguitar on, it's a fucking site to behold. This song is too catchy for words. They go for that lo-fi production feel of My Bloody Valentines soft washed out vocals, and to a degree it works. Personally i'd love to hear the vocals more up front in the mix, but i'm still singing along.

Interview With Emily Cahill from Gypsy Death & You

Evan: Hey Emily! I heard you wrote the song capital jump about how i'm the death of good taste.

Emily: Yes that is correct.

Grateful Dead - China Cat Sunflower

Man, College was fun right? I feel like i missed it. Oh well. I got stoned last night and listened to the Grateful Dead stoned for the very first time. Holy shit man, i am now officially creeped out by the lyric "china cat sunflower" and like the jams are intense. Wild shit. They're taking over my life and it needs to stop... But hey, they're great fucking pop musicians. Now if you wanna hear something crazy, you should check out the song "What's Become of the Baby" because you will all of a sudden realize where half of Animal Collective's catalog came from. I'll post that comparison up later. For now i've got two things i've been diggin' on real hard up for you. One is infact the song China Cat Sunflower, because the way everything works together in this song is somewhere between the pinnacle of musicality and borderline pop genious. I swear to god this song could have a whole generation of people following their every word. Oh wait.. It did. The way it swirls is unreal.

I mean, just listen to it.
